12A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

  1. The segment I choose were people that try to avoid the UF parking system .
2. The interview I had was with a freshman from the football team. He has a scooter and drives to practice daily. He can use the parking lot for the players at the stadium and has no problems to park his scooter there. From there he is usually close to all his classes and walks not more than 2 minutes. The only “problem” he would have is to find a spot at Keys Complex, but usually he always finds a spot. If he doesn’t find a spot he just parks his scooter in front of the door. He hasn’t got a ticket yet, so it works out not bad for him so far. He doesn’t need to know where spots are, he just parks wherever he wants to.

3. The second interview was with a girl from a sorority. She has a scooter that she parks at the sorority house. This is not a big deal because she spends a lot of time at the house. She avoids to park her scooter on campus because the opportunities are so bad and she has no decal. Through parking at the sorority house, she can park without getting a ticket and being close to campus.

4. The last interview was with one of my teammates. He has no decal for parking. Every morning, he drives his car to the last parking lot before campus and rides with his bike to practice. After afternoon practice he rides back to his car and drives home. He told me that he is doing that because it is no problem for him to ride those 5 min with his bike. He also doesn’t want to buy a decal just to be closer, and he told me that it would probably take more time to search for a single parking spot that is near the pool, than just to ride those 5 min with the bike.

I realised that maybe not everyone wants to park on campus and tries to avoid the parking lots because of all those annoying reasons like tickets or not finding a spot. My app might be helpful for a lot of people, but my goal should it be to get the guys that avoid the parking on campus to start it because my app helps them a lot. I found out that a lot of people try to find grey areas of the UF parking and try to abuse it or use it for their advantage.
